The Church was estimated to have been built almost 800 years ago. Today the church still maintains vigil over the bay with the waves dashing againt the point only yards from the church door. Walking away from the Church you will come to the new childrens playground that was part of the reclamation projects staged in the UK when £10 million was spent with the new breakwater and the first ever permanent offshore sculpures comprising of two five metre tall bronze figures a man and a woman. Newbiggin by the Sea is a great place to base yourself whilst discovering the delights of Northumberland and the Borders.
